Toyota and Hiring Our Heroesclose
If you’re a U.S. veteran who’s returning home and looking to enter the civilian workforce, how do you express-- in a one-page resume-- that the strengths, skills and character you’ve displayed while in service to your country can be of real value to a civilian employer? Not so easy, is it?
That’s why Toyota partnered with Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Dakota Meyer and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation on their Hiring Our Heroes program to assist with the creation of tools and resources to help veterans do just that.
These resources include everything from an eMentor platform, which matches veterans with career mentors to get one-on-one, personalized career guidance, to the Personal Branding Resume Engine, a first-of-its-kind online tool that takes the entirety of a veteran’s military experience and translates it into a strong, civilian-friendly resume and 90-second elevator pitch. The Personal Branding Resume Engine also helps streamline a veteran’s path to meaningful employment with an employer search feature, allowing veterans to add their completed resumes to a database where employers can find qualified veteran candidates, completely free of charge to both veterans and employers. These tools are available online and will also be featured at hundreds of Hiring Our Heroes job fairs across the country.
As Sgt. Meyer explained, “I understand firsthand how hard translating a military skill to a civilian skill can be. Our country has been served by the people that make the best employees – where qualities like loyalty, commitment, and hard work are not only required, but honored.” To learn more about Toyota’s partnership with Hiring Our Heroes, please visit the Hiring our Heroes website.
