Learning to Save Water: One Drop at a Timeclose
What can a car company and school kids do to conserve our water supply? In 2008, Toyota and the National 4-H Council launched a program called 4-H2O, which works to inspire youth across the country to help conserve our water. To achieve its goal, 4-H2O uses an interactive website with an environmental curriculum called “Exploring Your Environment.” It provides fun tips about small, individual actions that can have a big impact. For instance, just taking a shorter shower saves more water than you might think — a whopping 4 gallons a minute!
4-H2O also organizes water conservation projects in California, Kentucky, Michigan, West Virginia, Mississippi, Texas, Indiana and New York City.
Toyota’s manufacturing facilities also got in on the action. When 4-H20 created a short film to educate students on water conservation, they shot part of it at Toyota’s manufacturing plant in Georgetown, Kentucky.
