National Public Lands Day : Massachusetts Audubonclose
Caring for America’s natural beauty sometimes requires each of us to roll up our sleeves and pitch in. Starting in 1998, Toyota has sponsored National Public Lands Day (NPLD) in partnership with the National Environmental and Education Foundation (NEEF). Held annually in September, the national program is the largest hands-on volunteer event to improve and advance public lands. We encourage Toyota employees to participate, and during the 2010 event, more than 3,500 team members and associates volunteered at 41 different sites in 19 states and U.S. territories. Volunteers at the Massachusetts Audubon in Attleboro Springs built a self-contained rain garden, which will help keep the area’s waterways clean. In Uxbridge, volunteers at the West Hill Dam helped to maintain the woodland, cleaned kayak and canoe trails, benches and bridges, and planted flowers.
