“Sustainable” Justice at the Scott County Courthouseclose
Can justice be served in a greener way? It can at the Scott County Courthouse. Several years ago, our Georgetown, Kentucky plant formed an Energy Conservation Partnership with the Scott County Government and the City of Georgetown. The goal was to create a sustainable energy management system that would realize cost benefits for the courthouse while also reducing its environmental impact.
To get things started, Toyota employees volunteered their time to conduct an assessment and develop a sustainability plan. Some of the areas they targeted were energy leakage, insulation, lighting, and after-hours energy usage. Final recommendations focused on low- and no-cost options as well as fast payback options that would pay for themselves in 12-18 months’ time.
Today, the plan Toyota helped develop is paying off and Scott County Courthouse may just be the “greenest” courthouse in all of Kentucky.
