Teaching Tomorrow’s Environmental Leadersclose
Did you know that most kids can identify 1,000 corporate logos, but fewer than 10 plants and animals native to their own neighborhoods? That’s why the Toyota USA Foundation is supporting The Nature Conservancy’s “Leaders in Environmental Action for the Future” (LEAF) program. LEAF provides urban high school teens with paid summer internships in natural areas across the country, including in Inman and Rock Hill, and helps teachers share practices and scientific resources in their classrooms. Our goal is for LEAF to support more than 30 environmental high schools across the country, ultimately serving more than 20,000 students. The Toyota USA Foundation is a $100 million charitable endowment created to support education programs serving K-12 students and their teachers in the U.S. It places a special emphasis on mathematics, science, and environmental science. Since 1987, The Foundation has given over $50 million to eligible programs across the U.S.
