Toyota and BMW Drive to a Better Automotive Futureclose
Henry Ford once said: “Coming together is a beginning… keeping together is progress… working together is success.” And that's never been more true. The days of one company trying to do it all are in the past. That’s why Akio Toyoda, Toyota’s President, reached out personally to the BMW Group late last year to join forces to develop sustainable future technologies.
This collaboration started with our agreement for BMW to supply highly efficient diesel engines to Toyota Motor Europe. Soon, it was extended to joint research into next-generation lithium-ion battery cells. Now, Toyota and BMW have again expanded their partnership into other promising areas: fuel cell systems, powertrain electrification, lightweight technologies – and even the architecture for a future sports car.
All of these initiatives tap into Toyota’s expertise in hybrids and fuel cells as well as BMW’s strengths in performance and handling. We believe it's a great way to help transport us all to a more sustainable future – and thoroughly enjoy the trip.
Stay tuned for progress updates on the Toyota/BMW road trip to a better tomorrow.
